Just before 11 pm last evening, Station 5 was dispatched to a dwelling fire on the 400 block of Hilltop Rd in Strasburg Twp. Chief 5 (Stoltzfus) arrived approximately (2) minutes later and reported heavy smoke in the area and fire showing from the gable end of the home and asked for 2nd alarm dispatch. Truck 5 arrived and set up to the roof and made a trench cut to keep the fire from spreading through the whole attic which was successful. Rescue 5’s crew arrived and attacked the fire with hand lines. Mutual aid companies assisted with fire attack, securing the power and salvage/overhaul. We thank the following fire companies who assisted… Refton (Full Company), Quarryville (Full Company), Lampeter (Engine-Fill Site), Willow Street (Truck), Bart, West Willow (Tanker), Bird-in-Hand (Tanker), Gordonville (Truck and Tanker), Witmer (Tanker), Rawlinsville (Tanker). Units cleared the scene ta 2 am Thursday morning.
